Dongdaemun Design Plaza
Dongdaemun Design Plaza is an award-winning complex featuring large global exhibition spaces, design museums, 24-hour retail stores, and a media center. The building’s diverse public spaces include an exhibition hall, a conference room, and a designer’s lounge. For added excitement, the building is home to a design market that features more than 300 brands and over 20,000 items.
Dongdaemun Design Plaza is a major Seoul landmark. The architect Zaha Hadid won the 2004 Pritzker Prize for her design of the complex, which fuses the urban, cultural, and economic aspects of the city. The building is located in Korea’s largest fashion district, Dongdaemun. Its undulating surfaces allow for maximum flexibility and allows for the integration of multiple cultural and social aspects.
Awarded RIBA Stirling Prize, Zaha Hadid is responsible for the world’s tallest residential building. She also designed the Morpheus hotel in Macau, which was shortlisted for the ‘Best of’ award by the engineering journal Engineering News-Record. She also collaborated with Royal Thai, Kohler, and K-Pop Star. The Colosseum was the inspiration for the B.Zero1 icon. Its design incorporates geometry, fluidity, and tradition, reinventing the rules of jewelry. This unique ring is perfect for everyday wear and for special events. And the brand is also working with PUGB Mobile to create a virtual reality experience for its clients.
Bulgari collaboration with Zaha Hadid
The Bulgari collaboration with Zaha Hadid was first discussed during the Serpenti Installation at the Bulgari Hotel in Milan, Italy in April 2015. The installation, designed by Hadid and created by Bulgari CEO Jean Christophe Babin, was based on the Colosseum, a landmark architectural icon. The two designers worked together to create this ring, which features four bands made of 18ct pink gold.
The B.zero1 ring has stood out for 17 years and continues to be a symbol of both contemporary and classical design. This collaboration with Hadid sees Bulgari introduce the inceptive B.zero1 ring and introduces a new ring design incorporating the motifs and geometry of the original. This unique design evokes a fluid representation of the Colosseum and celebrates the brand’s modern and classical roots.
The iconic B.zero1 ring was inspired by the Colosseum in Rome and is the first iconic piece of jewellery of the new millennium. The ring has two motifs that are reminiscent of the Colosseum: the Roman Forum and the Colosseum. Hadid interpreted these traditional designs to create a ring that was both contemporary and bold.
