BVLGARI’s commitment to minimise the use of plastic

BVLGARI’s recent adoption of a Plastic Free Policy has taken a further step towards reducing its environmental footprint. By 2021, the brand expects all its packaging to be made of materials which have been recycled or sourced responsibly. In the meantime, it has cut the amount of plastic in its packaging by 96% and has also started using biodegradable laundry bags. It also employs sustainable methods to heat its resorts, including Geothermal Ground Source Heat Pumps. But this is not the end of the process. BVLGARI isn’t stopping there. BVLGARI’s collection is inspired by the city of Rome, where a talented Greek silversmith, Sotirio Bulgari, opened his first store in 1884. The brand quickly expanded into several different locations in Rome and commenced selling exquisite silver ornaments to the locals. The jewellery was a hit with English tourists on their Grand Tour. The 1960s saw the emergence of Serpenti pieces, and they became more daring as time went on.

Inspired by Rome’s architecture

Early American architects were fascinated by the architecture of Rome. Because of Rome’s history as a great civilization, they brought back many ideas and techniques for their own country. In fact, Thomas Jefferson drew his inspiration from Rome when he redesigned the White House and added interior rooms. Ultimately, the architecture of Rome influenced the style of many modern cities. Here are some examples of buildings inspired by Roman architecture.

Many courthouses in America were designed after Roman temples. In 1935, Cass Gilbert’s U.S. Supreme Court building was built in the style of a Roman temple. The building rises up on a pedestal and is approached by a formal front staircase. Inside, freestanding columns surround the structure, which is covered in white marble. A variety of other buildings also borrow from Roman architecture. But what is the main influence of Roman architecture on our modern-day architecture?

The designer’s name Bulgari is an Italian adaptation of his last name, Sotirios Voulgaris. The brand was established in 1905 and has its flagship store on Rome’s Via dei Condotti.

In 2009, Bvlgari began a partnership with Save The Children to support education and youth empowerment projects in underdeveloped countries. Since that time, Bvlgari has raised more than $100 million to benefit 2 million disadvantaged children. The company also has a new initiative to help fight the deadly virus Covid-19. The Bvlgari Foundation is funding research strategies to help combat this deadly disease. It will provide funding to the Lazzaro Spallanzani National Institute for Infectious Diseases and the University of Oxford Jenner Institute.
